I have teaching instructor experience in operations management (UG Core), teaching assistant experience in operations management (UG core, MBA core), and in healthcare operations (MBA elective). I’m confident in teaching operations management, healthcare management, data analytics, and data visualization classes at the undergraduate or graduate level.

I received the 2025 Latane Outstanding Teaching Award from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School for teaching my undergraduate class BUSI 403 Operations Management (UG Core).

My teaching philosophy revolves around equipping students with practical problem-solving skills through relatable, real-world examples and evidence-based decision-making training. I am committed to nurturing a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students acquire knowledge and develop essential skills for success in their professional endeavors.

  • The strengths of this class included Professor Liu’s preparedness and enthusiasm. The content was hands on and extremely interesting.

  • Her ability to keep students invested in the lectures.

  • Very engaging professor, engaging activities, group work and guest speakers.

  • Blair brought in valuable first-hand experience to operations management that made learning more interesting and applicable. I feel like the examples and way she explained the material was able to resonate with me on a higher level and get me to think critically about the material.

  • Blair is incredibly kind and cares about all of her students. Her exams are fair and the homework helps equip you for the midterm and final.

  • The instructor was very good at keeping the class engaged, answering questions, and provide relevant examples. She was organized and overall taught the material very clearly.

  • Blair is an extremely passionate teacher who taught material that was actually important and applicable to our professional lives. She taught in a unique way that made it very easy to stay focused and engaged and she was clearly very knowledgeable on the subject as she could answer any questions we had easily and clearly.

  • Very engaging, had real world examples and connections. Made it very easy to conceptualize difficult topics.

  • I thought Blair made the course very engaging and I always enjoyed coming to class. Thought she did a good job of breaking down difficult questions so we could better understand the process to solving them.

  • She was so passionate about the material (you could tell) and she was always prepared for class. She would give us time to think and work on questions before answering them, which really helped digest all the new material.

  • Blair is excellent at prompting discussions and leading the class through difficult material. She also does an amazing job at relating back to real world examples.

She made my work in this class feel appreciated, and that is something I cannot say for pretty much any professor I have had over the last four years. I will definitely recommend people take this class or any class that Blair is teaching.

  • Honestly, nothing jumps out to what can be improved. I thought it was run amazingly. Maybe the use of excel and larger data sets for tests. But again, amazing course and Blair did an amazing job.

  • I don’t see any places where it could be improved, legitimately the best and highest quality teacher I’ve had so far at UNC

  • Professor Liu made class interesting and inclusive every day. She was a great teacher and made 403 interesting.

  • Excellent instructor, exemplary effort to involve class and created a wonderful environment.

  • She cultivated an environment where conversation about topics was open. I always felt like I could share my thoughts and ask questions in a safe space. Also, she didn’t just keep her examples within the border of the United States. A lot of her business examples ad drew on other countries, which was interesting and provided a deeper level of learning.

  • The professor was always willing to answer questions and encouraged students to participate. She was very kind to everyone and inclusive. She would also take extra time to go over any confusing topics.

  • She excelled at it, it was always good at encouraging participation and facilitating group discussions. It created a very friendly classroom environment that was also capable of fast paced learning.
